i have a performance question. i'm a gearhead with cars and trucks, new to outboards. i cannot see how my carb on my 25hp tiller gets a lot of air under the cover... so would it do me any good to put a hole and maybe intake tube into my carb for a 'ram air' effect? with some sort of filter to keep out particles. would i get a noticeable difference? also, from factory my WOT on the handle is not near WOT on the carb, so i adjusted the stopper on the linkage to make sure that WOT on the handle opens up my carb all the way, is this safe and ok?

The air for the motor comes in thru the handle on the back of the lid. At 25mph, you could blow more air into the carb with your mouth. Now if you added some natural methane from the other end... Do you like beans and Mexican food? ;)

The speed marked on the tiller handle is a close approximation, but none are particularly accurate. The carb butterfly should be fully open when the timing is fully advanced. Sounds like that's what you did.
