I posted a while back that my motor wasn't revving and I couldn't get on plane. After some digging around, some by me, some by the mechanic, we found that 2 of the 3 plug wires were cracked and spark wasn't getting to the cylinders and the throttle plates were only opening less than 50%. Not to mention the ignition wires in the control box were melted into a big mess and numerous other linkages were out of adjustment and both power pack mounts were cracked. Previous owner clearly did some shoddy work. The mechanic said he couldn't believe it ran at all in this condition but that it says something for the quality of Johnson/Evinrude outboards. I took a video of how it was acting before on the lake and how it's running now, in the tank at the mechanic. Dramatic difference and I cant wait to get it out on the lake next week.

Looks a tidy unit. But be careful reving it up in neutral, i avoid ever doing that as with no load on the engine its actually putting unconventional pressures on the parts in there such as the bearings.
The worst and funniest for me is whenever i see people at the boat ramp reving up a cold engine the moment they put it in the water to try and impress the crowds

I cringe too when I see someone revving a cold motor...car, boat, motorcycle etc.
