I just got a new (to me) boat with a '94 60HP motor and it takes a few cranks to get it started and then it runs pretty rough for 5-10 minutes until it gets up to temp and then it starts and runs like a champ even after being off for an hour. It's just those first 5-10 minutes in the first start up of the day that are rough. Any thoughts on what might be causing this and what I can do to help it?

Check to insure no one has removed the thermostat. Other wise remove the T/stat cover and inspect and or replace the T/stat. assy.

Cold start procedure is as follows.

- Pump fuel line bulb
- lift fast idle lever halfway or maybe a little more
- push key for choke/primer
- turn key

It usually fires right away and runs for a few seconds and then dies so I have to repeat a few times. Once it's running on it's own it might die once when i put it into gear. As i mentioned from there it runs a little rough and will hesitate when I try to accelerate until it gets up to full operating temp.
