I noticed a two piece rubber hose coming out of the top of the cavitation plate, off of a fitting, when the motor is running water is coming out with force. This hose was routed down by the tilt and trim. My problem is the hose fell off and i can't see where it was attached. Any help ?

For a lot of years, maybe as far back as '89 when they redesigned their mid sized engines, they incorporated the speedometer pickup in the leading edge of the lower unit. If you will look carefully on the leading edge, below the anti vent plate, but above the gearbox you will see a small hole. In addition, several inches above that and just inboard is a small tube fitting pointing up. From that fitting a black plastic hose routs up past the clamp brackets and is attached to the electrical control cable to make it's way to the dash where a speedometer would be located.

Other than that, I "dunno".
