94 90hp johnson

I'm looking at buying a 94 90hp johnson. Can anyone out there give me some input? Is this a good motor. The guy says the top end has been overhauled with only a few hours on it. He wants $1950 for it. Any info would be appreciated.<br /><br />GoVikes!

Describe "overhauled". Not what you think it means but what the mechanic KNOWS has been done. A quick compression test will help too.<br /><br />The basic engine design is good. Crossflows have been around seemingly forever.<br /><br />Good luck!
