I have a 94 Evinrude E150JELRA (converted to prop) that I've been sorting out some issues on.

Had a no spark issue that was solved with a new power pack. Have replaced fuel lines from hull to motor, installed a fuel separator, and have new plugs.

Did a shake down run the other night and it's having issues going from idle to WOT unless I barely creep the throttle up. Once it gets up it runs well....had a overtemp warning, but I think that's just proof my impeller needs replacing (unknown history...cheap maintenance). Basically, if I drop the throttle from just in gear to 3/4, it dies...cold or warm, didn't seem to matter.

I seem to have good fuel flow...but when it falls flat on it's face, I wonder. Could an anti-siphon cause this behavior? There seem to be no mix adjustment screws on these carbs....not 100% what other adjustments I have. The Seloc manual isn't great on the specifics of this motor (that I can see).

Any thoughts?

Carburetor bowls are known to warp.-----Are you sure there are no idle mixture screws ?

I've been looking at that....no obvious leaking though. An no, it would seem that this year/series there are no mixture adjustments.

Well, it sure looks like it has no idle jets, on the parts list. I have seen fixed idle jets, so maybe that is what you have.

You do have fixed high speed jets and intermediate jets. I recommend you clean all the carbs and replace gaskets, inlet needles and seats. Check the bowls for warpage with a steel ruler. Replace any that are warped.

The carb should have a thin brass tube that descends into the carbbowl. That will feed the idle circuit. make sure that is clean. On my '98 Johnny 150, the idle mix needle is visible under the side cover of the carb. Maybe your idle jets can be seen the same way.

Appreciate the reply

tonight I rebuilt and reinstalled all six carbs with new needle seed float and gaskets and that seems to have improved the throttle response

dunking it in the water tomorrow for some testing

update...carb rebuild seems to have solved the majority of the problems. Think I may have a slightly binding throttle cable, but that seems minor. next...steering cable. ug.
