I hope someone can help me on this one, the issue is that my engine will run with the fast idle lever pulled up but when it is brought down the motor cuts off, I reviewed the carb-sync sticky post but I am not sure if that would apply to the 50hp w/ only 1 carb, the engine has worked fine in the past but recently I replaced the inline fuel filter because there was a leak causing the engine to cut off. I also turned the screw with the spring on it on the carb clockwise to see if it would speed the idle up but it didnt seem to do anything so I turned the screw back to where it was originally, does anyone have any advice on how to speed up the idle?, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Picture 179.jpgPicture 181.jpgOn the stbd.side is a part called the towershaft.Bottom of the shaft is a screw and a nut to lock it in place. That's where you adjust the idle.
You have to make sure the throttle cam and roller align and touch. The mark on the cam should just touch the roller.

Thank you so much Jerry! The motor is idling perfectly now but the mark on the cam ended up being slightly lower than level as it touches the roller, is this a big issue? And also there is a sticker that says to adjust the throttle cable when adjusting the idle, should I do that it seems to be running fine now, I haven't run it on the water yet, just have the lower unit in a big rubbermaid box full of water, seems to work better than the muffs. Thanks again for the help!
