'94 Intruder 150 Trim Issue

I am posting this for my father-in-law who doesn't have a computer.

He has a '94 Stratos 270 with a '94 Intruder 150 that is having an issue with the tilt and trim. He can trim and tilt the engine, but it doesn't show on his trim gauge on the panel. What can cause this?

Possibly the trim sending unit on the engine bracket or a bad connection.
Also the sender can be tested with an ohm meter..

First ensure that the gauge is getting power. Next test the sender like stated. It is a switch above the trim unit on the stern bracket, follow the wires coming off the trim motor.
