Just got the motor for all other reasons the motor seems fine..but I do have a few questions??

The alarm chirp sounds while running could this be due to oil being low and sloshing around?

Do high end spark plugs matter?

Should I run Sea foam through my gas tanks and how often?

What is the true advantage of a 4 blade prop over a 3 I only fish not looking for a speed boat ?

Should you leave your throttle hand pulled back when the boat is trailers to keep the prop form spinning I was told this will wear bearing out faster??

Last question I have been told the new gas with ethanol will hurt my motor I can not find gas with out it in it...also if I run this is there something I can do to off set the use of ethanol gas ?

I know these are a lot of questions but this is my first boat and I want to take really good care of it

welcome to iboats. your motor should have the new alcohol resistant fuel line, ethanol should not bother you. leave the motor in neutral, that prop is just coasting. you should be using the Champion Plug designated for that motor. anytime you hear and alarm, shut down and find the problem. which alarm are you getting,

J/E Alarms

low oil alarm is a beep every 30 seconds. beep......................beep...................

no oil alarm is a beep every 1/2 second or so.beep, beep, beep

overheat alarm is a constant beep.beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep

some controllers have a test circuit, that beeps once when you turn the key to on.

If your prop is turning as you trailer at highway speeds then you do run the risk of bearing wear. Any part has a useful life, no reason to use part of the life while trialering. The prop shaft can turn with the bearings. Turning = wear. If your prop does not turn while trailering then don't worry about it. It is very easy to drop the engine into reverse at shut down and eliminate any prop spin.

Re: 94 Johnson 150 hp

Thank you for the responses. I get the every 30 sec beep gotta be the low oil issue then. As for the trailering the boat and the prop spinning..My father is the one that suggested the throttle handle be put in reverse to keep the prop from spinning during transportation to and from the lake! Thanks again for the warm welcome look forward to sharing and learning

Thanks Will
