94 Johnson 25hp Question

So my neighbor bought a nice stick steer with T/T. Not running. Cleaned carb 4 times because I kept thinking there was garbage in it and there was. Installed inline filter. It will fire up and idle beautifully. Then it runs out of gas after 20 seconds. Well I noticed that the fuel pump was a riding lawn mower pump that is fed from the hole that fed the original that was tapped and a nipple installed to run the pump. Could this be the issue or is this common practice? Thanks in advance. PS the slow idle screw on the side of the carb is open from seat 1/2 turn

Try it without the inline filter.

I would ask why? I have 2 on my 25 merc big foot and my other buddy has one on his and they run great. Hell they put them on in the shop and new ones come with them installed between pump and carb

So, maybe you need two.

My main concern was the lawn mower fuel pump. Would that make a difference?
