I have finally replaced the 9.5 x 12.5 with a 9.5 x 10 prop. what's up, this motor still won't go to WOT throttle right away and it still takes an awfully long time to plane the 12 foot boat. Did I waste my money or is my engine out of adjustment? I have no high-speed adjustment on this carburetor, could my spark-advance be a little off? I have adjusted the butterfly so that it opens fully on the carburetor, that made no difference. no obstructions in engine cover, air box, or exhaust holes. fresh spark plugs, brand new factory carb, engine has 20 or so hours. (J15EEDS), G 04072438 are the numbers. any suggestions??

Hi James Miller
Sounds to me like you need to check your service
manual if you have one and perform the sync & link
procedure. It's possible that the W.O.T. stop screw
is misadjusted. Not letting you achieve the rated RPM's for that outboard. Here are somethings to check for:
1.A clogged fuel filter.
2.Poor Quality or old fuel.
3.FUEL Tank vent or hose restricted.
4.Restricted fuel pick-up.
5.Restricted fuel supply system.
6.Faulty anti-sipon valve.
7.Fuel system air leak.
8.Leaf plate assy screws loose
THE others Listed in the shop manual are about the carb itself. You said you replaced it already.
To be on the safe side do a complete sync & link
first then go from there. hope this help's
tell us what you find. see ya latter.

By the way, James.

Your model number indicates that your engine is a '96, not a '95.

Good luck. :)
