Fuel restrictions solved motor run and starts great. Thanks for all the advice. This engine is on a 1996 Striper center console. I am curious what my WOT RPMs should be. Typically have 3persons aboard including myself, 30 gallons of fuel, 30 gal bait tank filled, rods and gear aboard. The Striper is a fairly heavy vessel I would think. Don't care about how fast I go really don't need more speed than I have. WOT RPM is about 5200, although I usuall run at about 3500 to 4500. Just wondering if I might be over propped. Currently have an aluminum 15 X 17 pitch prop in good condition. Am I lugging my engine ? Thanks. Today sunny and 88 degrees in San Diego yesterday the same, great dday on the water, fishing was terrible.

"Overpropped" is a horrible term but widely used. Yes, you need more rpm but I'd only change to a lower pitch as a last resort. Going to a lower pitch almost always reduces efficiency. I'd work with the set up to max out what you have before throwing money at a prop.

I'm shocked fishing was terrible. That's a shame. Many times we've went fishing and the catching was terrible but the fishing has always been good.
