95 90hp johnson v4

i have a 17 foot stratos center console with 90hp v4 johnson.runs great on top end and idols great.slow out of the hole.changed prop from 17 to 15 pitch.not much better.only gained 100 rpms for a total of 5200.does this indicate motor trouble?maybe in bottom end?

did you go from alluminum to ss? where is cavition plate in relation to bottom of boat? if motor can go up rpms can be achieved. can you post a pic with motor where you run it?

Spanky it could be an indication of many different things,but first tell us what props you had on it. This inlcudes the make and model of both props with pitch and diameter and are they both made out of the same material. Differences in blade geometry between props can cause these anomalies as well, so it very well may not be a problem.

i went from 13 5/8 x 17 ss. to a 13 3/4 x 15.didnt seem to change anything.like i said top end seems to b fine.however still not getting but 5200 rpms.wouldnt 5800 to 6000 b ideal?i just purchased boat last week.as far as brands the 17 was on it when i bought it and the new 15 was oem part.wifes camera down at the moment so i cant get u a pic at this time.the 15 is alum.sorry
