'95 Bayliner 17' 3.0 I/O

[cobra 3.0]

A buddy of mine has the boat above in the fuel injected version with a Mercruiser outdrive and claims top speeds of 55 mph with a 21" pitch prop. I have a hard time believing that...my 16' boat with carbed 3.0 barely hits 38 mph with a 19" pitch. <br /><br />What are you folks getting with your 3.0's?

He must be riding that boat down Niagra Falls. Is he sure it's not a kph speedometer? That might be more realistic. Ohterwise somebody oversized his speedometer pickup.

I get about 43 MPH in my 2004 17.5' bowrider with a carbed VP 3.0 and 21 pitch prop.

Just spoke to another fellow who's brother-in-law just bought a new bayliner with 3.0. he was on board and says with 2 people on board it showed 50 mph! I asked if he was sure it wasn't kms per hour, he insisted it was miles per hour.

Is that by the speedometer or by GPS? My 17 footer with the 3.0 will run about 49 by the speedometer but only about 43 by GPS.... big difference.

....aaahhh! So it's those flattering speedometers that could be the cultprint! I'll get him to check it by GPS.
