I thank you would need to use your old engines cam (for correct RPM range), intake manifold and carb., starter, alternator, and any other marine non auto part. Should work.

If your block has vortex heads you will have to get a block with vortex heads, and same with older heads, if you are going to use your heads. If you have mechanical fuel pump you may have to convert to electric, auto converted to electric a lot earlier then boats and have no place to mount machanical fuel pump. Then If engine couper (rear) and water pump fit then block should work.

Ayuh,.... I think Not....
The block doesn't care at All whether you use Vortec heads or not....

1995 is Pre-Vortec Heads, They were putting the Vortec name on the valve covers even before the actual combustion chamcer was released in 1996...
But I think the mechanical fuel pump was gone by then....

Tim,...
Where are you going to be Looking for this block,....
About Any Machine Shop, or Wrecking Yard can tell you which years interchange with what...

Yup, fuel pump boss dissappeared the same time the balance shaft was added.

You got a salvage yard near you, that you can trust to give you a good block?

Go over it with a magnifying glass. Pay attention to the mating surfaces of the heads, bolt holes ain't pulled up etc.

No hairline cracks on the sides maybe painted over. Cooling holes Etc.

Talk to the owner explain what you want to do, and see if it is bad after you get it home, will he switch it out for another one, most guys see a younger person they understand.

Ayuh,... Maybe,....

You probably would do Better if you just leave the new motor's "Guts" Alone......
Just swap over everything that's bolted Onto the block, Not everything that's bolted Into the block...

There's alittle More to the fitment Issues of taking the "Guts" of 1 block that have been running together for Many Hours,+ putting the in a Different Block that's had a different set of "Guts" running in it for God knows how many Hours.....
It just Won't Last....

Just replace the casting/ freeze plugs with brass ones cheap maybe 5 bucks.

Leave the guts alone.

Of course the flywheel, coupler, got to be changed over, you know the drill.

Fuel pump, alternator, if they were marine ones on the old block, got to be changed over.

Oil pan good on the new one? Paint the heck outta it after you clean it real good.

Heck paint everything when you get it home before you start changing everything and it's stripped down.

For that paint i used rustoleum high heat paint in the shake can. 2 cans will do nicely.

I even paint my starters, 3 -4 times, and the alternator, i tape the screen and paint that good also, but thats me.

Good luck !
