95 dt85 dies in gear

just bought boat went out it ran good 20 min turned it off it started but when i put it in gear it died trolled back changed plugs ranlittle better then same thing waiting on carb kit f/p kit thermostat manual plugs and water seporator filter hope im on right path how do i check throttle sensor waiting on book any advice would be helpful thanks where do i find sieral #

I assume you are referring to a Suzuki 85. As I recall that is a three cylinder. They will run on two, surprisingly well.

If you have good spark, you have a carb. issue. The Mikuni's on those are VERY sensitive to any debris.

when checking compression do u take all the plugs out or one at a time?

All of them. Pull the kill lanyard and make sure it turns over at least five times for each cylinder check.
