I have a 95 Johnson 175, took it out today after changing the plugs to see if it would run smoother. It jump up on plane fast and ran smooth until I hit between 5250-5400 rpm's. It missed a time or two so I came off plane down to an idle and it cut off. It restarted after a minute and we idled around for about 10 minutes, tried it again and we hit around 5500 rpm's and it missed twice in a minute? Thought changing the plugs would do the trick, but is there any advice that you might have before I take it in? Also I was wondering I am running a 19ft. Javelin with this motor. I GPS'd the speed today and we hit 59mph. I am running a 24p Raker, is that normal? Thanks

You can do several things to track it down.
Get the factory service manual and follow it.
www.kencook.com

Compression test first.
Spark gap test second. (with a gap tester, not a sparkplug)

If they pass then its likely to be fuel system.

For intermittant problems, take a timing light along, see if its dropping the ignition when the engine balks.
Test fuel delivery by pumping bulb when it starts to miss.
check filters (seperator),

try a test tank of fuel. Wait til it fails then hook up the test tank and retry.
check engine temp when it quits.
Check kill circuit.
