Hello to all,
Just finished complete rebuild of Johnson V6 150hp Fast Strike. Model is J150GLEOM. Has optical ignition. VRO2 disconnected and plugged. Running on 25/1 premix from a small tank on transom.
Here is Problem. I cannot get engine to idle, it will run great and then die. Squeezing the bulb which had gone soft while running will get it going again. Seems to run out of gas.
How to I set timing without a ignition analyzer? I have a DVM, timing light, and a DVA adapter.
How do I disconnect the quick start feature?
Please be quite clear in answering my questions about the optical ignition as this is my first encounter with it.
I have a Seloc manual, not a factory oem, sorry.
Thanks in advance

Pumping the primer bulb sounds like bad fuel pump/vro. You can set the timing using your timing light with mtr running and following specs in the manual. To disable Q/S, ground out the black/white wire going to the port temp sender.
