Any help or advice is greatly apreciated!!!

Motor is in a direct drive ski boat. Motor is rebuilt with about 20 hrs on it.

When boat would sit idling for a while and then try and pull a skiier out it would start out good and then just completely die and not start.(only after it had sit iddling for a while) After waiting a few minutes with motor off it would start fine and pull great. Untill the other day. Boat was sitting at the beach for a while and when I went to start it up, all it would do was just turn over. Finally after many attempts it would start but would die the minute I put it in gear. Kept trying and finally got it going but after going over about 4000rpms boat did the same thing... completely die and not start. It obviuosly seemes to be getting worse. It seemed to run fine at Idle. PLEASE HELP!!

Sounds like a fuel problem. That is where I would start troubleshooting. Start with fuel filters and pump (cheap fixes) them move on to the carb (that is when the real money starts). I always start with the cheap stuff. Just think about how many NASA rockets were lost from $3.00 micro chips.
P.S. I did see a boat act like that one time with a bad coil but that was a freak thing.

I will check the fuel filter and pump for sure. The moter is fuel injected so no carb but could the injectors be going bad??? Thanks for the posts!!

Check the the fuel filter on the bottom of the electric fuel pump there is a screen on the bottom of the pump.

not likely that all injectors r bad at the same time.it takes a certain amount of fuel pressure to open the injectors.works like a furnace nozzle.

You need to check the condition of the filter on the bottom of the high pressure pump. this is in the vapor seperator. when you look at the top of it there is a metric plug. remove it and get a suction device IE antifreeze checker and suck some fuel from the bottom of the resivor. that screen filter under the pump will not let water through. so if water shuts it up fuel cannot get through. this area is very costly, pump over 400.00 filter 200.00 plus seal kit 125.00 it is very hard to remove the top without trashing the 0-rings. good luck! bob
