95 mercruiser alpha 1 gen 2 4.3 vortec 18' cerlebrity

My lower unit shift shaft seal went bad and filled lower with water.Ice busted lower unit over the winter. So it needs to be re placed.My out drive has a 1.84 ratio. I can buy a good 2.0 ratio out drive cheap! Is this to much gear for my boat!

It would help if you re post this in the Mercruiser section. This is all about Volvo Penta.

Please don't post the same question more than once in a forum. You also need to post in the proper forum. I moved your other thread over to the Mercruiser forum. As noted above, this forum is for Volvo.
