So I recently picked up a '95 Tahoe in decent shape (for MN) and have begun some small customization on it.

I've never done anything other than stock exhaust so bear with me. I wanted to do something to this truck to make it sound better. I took the pipe off from the cat back and was going to install a glasspack or different muffler.

I believe you need to know the inlet and outlet to buy the correct glasspack and mine looks to be 2 3/4" in and 2 3/4" out on this stock exhaust. Can anyone confirm that? I went to Autozone to find a glasspack and they didnt carry anything that would fit this which made me skeptical because I think all these chevy exhausts are the same.

Not sure of the diameter (sounds right for a single outlet on a truck), you could probably pick up a cheap electronic micrometer that will tell you.

I prefer to avoid Autozone like the plague. Unless they are selling a brand-name part, chances are its going to be a cheap knock off, and you will be replacing it in a couple of years when it rots off.

If you want something that will last a while check them out;

My 99 Tahoe 5.7 had the dual inlet,single outlet muffler.
They make bolt on custom exhaust kits for those truck.
Flowmaster and several others sell them.

On mine i ripped the whole exhaust system off and had larger pipes with a crossover and true duals run.
Made a big difference.

This is the kit i used to have,nice deep sound.

Aha. I'm not sure if I want true dual or not. Just trying to go a cheaper more simpler route but this little project might end up costing me some $$.

I think all the different options are overwhelming. What I originally planned on doing was dual inlet to dual outlet 3" pipe that exits to the side just in front of the rear tires. Not sure if this can be done with a 2dr but here is what it looks like on a 4dr.

There are a ton of choices out there for sure.
I ended up with the Dynomax Bullet mufflers and the rest was custom made at the exhaust shop.
The truck is not real loud except when you jump hard on the gas then it roars to life.
The engine runs cooler and it did help my gas mileage a little.

According to the Flowmaster website it looks like 3" in and out", but I wouldn't hold my breath on that. (chances are in the 15yrs that its been on the road the exhaust has been replaced) You could always pick one up from AZ or any other parts store and use adaptors if it's not too big of a difference.
