Conducting a Gimble bearing service, 1st time.. and it seems like it may be the 1st time ever.. Not just for me but the drive too..
My Pivot rod is stuck in there good.. I've given it some good whacks with a 16OZ rubber mallet and it ain't budging.
The bolts, nickle plated brass,, seems like they don't like to be used twice. Were not to tough to get moving but as they twisted off required more and more pressure to the extent they heated up some, from the drag of those two metals being unhappy. not stripped, but feel like they will if not careful. Moreover feel like the factory would recommend using new ones??
I'm thinking they are too soft to use, for locking them together on one side; to try and get that Pivot rod to twist a little and loosen up, inside of the case..
Has anyone got a 'home-made' or otherwise system for getting a stuck tight pivot rod out?
