Howdy, turney.

Welcome to iboats. :)

Sounds to me like it is running out of fuel but not out of oil.

Could be restriction in tank venting or fuel supply from tank to carbs or could be fuel pump problem.

let us know what you find, and good luck. :)

Re: 95 yamaha 225 txrt

a certain amount of smoke is rather normal at restart.
however we do see the occasional oil pump shaft seal leak.
the oiling system actually injects oil behind the carbs so fuel isnt the issue,.
also insure the pump arm is within .02" of the stopper with the throttle fully closed.

Re: 95 yamaha 225 txrt

why check the fuel valve? it has nothing to do with engine oiling as oil is injected into the intake behind the carbs. fuel and oil are mixed in the reed/crankcase area.
its rather normal to smoke at start up, excessive smoke usually indicates a leaking pump seal, a pump arm out of adjustment or a leaking oil line check valve.
what brand of oil are you using? some oils dont work as well as others in the mikuni pumps.
