96 120hp mercury force poor WOT speed

I have a 96 Sea Ray 120xr, and at WOT with only myself running in a flat river im getting 33 mph on the GPS. I am aware that these jetboats arent speed boats but I have been told that it should be getting to 45mph. Has anyone countered this problems, and is there any diagnostics that I can check to get a better top speed. Thanks

What size pitch prop are you running with. (Edit) a 15 pitch is about maximum for the force 120 in my opinion. Jet boat? Fallow jerrys advice and come back and let us know what you get.

Says he's running a jet.There is a forum for jets and PWCs.There are a couple of guys who answer questions over there.They should be able to help.
Start with a compression and spark test then ask on the other forum.If the comp is low come back here and we can help.
