so i went to go start up the boat the other day and i wasnt even able to trim the motor up off of the "kickstands". it made a light clicking sound that came from the trim (up and down) relays. sounds like the motor isnt getting the correct voltage to fully power the relay, so the relays just click and never turn all the way over.
so then i decide to just try to see if i can crank it over, nothing. i checked the voltage at the hot end of the starter solenoid and the "cold" end while i cranked it over and there was no voltage on the cold side. on the hot side, the voltage was equal to my battery. i used a jumper wire and hit the starter and there is plenty of power to crank the motor over.
so my question is, is the solenoid bad? i think its something else because i dont have use of my trim motors either. i used the motor block as my ground during my voltage testing and it was the same voltage as hitting the battery directly.
1996 88spl with electric trim, been sitting for ~2 months. not too long, as i take it out pretty often.
