Hi guys. Somewhat new to forums and new to boats. Just bought a 1996 Chappell 1930ss. Bought it without hearing it run cause it's still cold here and it is winterized. So today I decided I was gonna just bump the engine to make sure that it would turn over just out of curiosity. Again I am new to boats. I turned the key and nothing happened. No clicks or anything. The battery had juice cause the radio was playing and lights were on. Boat was in neutral also. Just looking for some ideas as to what to look for. All replies are much appreciated. Thanks.

Hi! I just bought that boat just the 1830 and couple years newer. Same situation, couldn't hear it run. The guy told me a couple things to do when we are ready to start it he said to make sure the kill switch is in on position. He also said to disengage trailer mode(make sure outdrive is down and there's a button on throttle thing ). Also just because the radio works doesn't necessarily mean the battery has enough juice to run the starter. A radio does not take that much power. Good luck !

Agree, check kill switch and will add

Don't crank it over, you can damage the impeller without water going to it
