96 evinrude no spark

Good evening I recently picked up 1997 Evinrude 25 hp outboard with key start. originally had no spark, The wires on the harness were all brittle and breaking so I decided to carefully replace the wires. More than I think I wanted to get into. The motor did regain spark, but not to full power so I replaced throttle cables which original needed to be due to excessive play. Since then no spark again, kill wire on key switch has been disconnected the whole time, so I'm not sure if that may be part of problem.The plastic male and female connectors are missing and everything is hard wire. Is there a wire diagram someone has available!( I could not find). Also, will a hard wire connection work?
