96 Force 90HP Carb Question

Hi all,

Last summer, I had a problem with my motor. It would often bog down when I tried to throttle up. With the help of this forum, I was able to change all of the fuel pumps and do a rebuild on the carbs (new gaskets, cleaned and blown out). Motor ran absolutely perfect most of my next trip. However, on the last run of the day, the same old problem with bogging down came up.

I'm looking at doing the same carb work before the spring, but I'm wondering if I should drain (and replace with new) all of my fuel before I fire it up again after the fix. I've always used seafoam, but there is always some left over fuel at the end of the season that I've let sit all winter the past couple of years.

Since the problem was fixed after I did the work, and then came back up after the motor had run for a while, is it reasonable to think that bad fuel was the culprit? Should I be aware of anything else?

Thanks!

To drain or not to drain.
Yes drain if it's gonna set a long time.
I think adding Stabil is a good thing..
Try changing the hoses.
The vent line for the tank maybe partially clogged.
Don't let an almost empty tank set all winter.
Fill it and add Stabil and Ethanol stabilizer.
My boat when I lived in Mi. sat for 4-5 mo. at a time.
I never did anything except keep the fuel full.

Thanks to both of you for the replies! I honestly never thought about checking the vent. I'll take a look.

Jerry, I've heard that before about keeping the tank full in the off-season. It completely slipped my mind this year. Looks like I'll drain and refill. Also, when I said I changed the "pumps", I should've typed "hoses". Those were replaced last year.
