The boat starts and runs fine in neutral. Revs nicely. When you try to put it in gear it tries to die out and stall. My boss found that when holding the trim button the misfire/rough running goes away and the boat runs pretty good. When you let go of the button the rough running returns. ANy ideas on this one?

We're gonna need some more information about your engine/drive models. 5.0L doesn't say much, and the boat year frequently isn't the same as the engine year. Full model number or serial number would be best.
