I have a 1996 Johnson 112 SPL on a 2003 Bone Boats 18 Cape Island (18'-6", 1600#, 48 gallon fuel, 30 gallon live well).

With two adults, full fuel, full livewell and 100# gear, the boat is a slug getting on a plane, even with the trim tabs down. Currently, the prop is a 13 X 19. RPM at WOT is 5100, and top speed is 41 mph.

Not sure if this is a matter of engine failure, improper propping, or other.

What can be suggested to increase planning time? I'm not too concerned with top speed, just getting on a plane quicker.

Thanks.
