96 Johnson 48 spl impeller

Water slowed and then quit from telltale while on hose. Pulled lower unit and no signs of wear on impeller. Replaced impeller and all was well on first start. About 1 week tried again and output was ok for a minute or so then stopped. Increase engine speed and output comes back but still weak. Anything I am forgetting. The impeller I replaced was about 1 year old.

Use barrel or lake to test waterpump function. Period.

Thanks to kbait. No water coming out while on muffs. First time having this issue in 25+ years. Dunked outdrive in a tub of water and telltale produced water. I'll be darned.
