1 roller rocker came out when the car was started (naturally it caused a major miss). I put it back and the car ran fine for a couple of weeks. The car was not run for several days and when it was next started the roller rocker again popped out. I'm looking for the root cause of this problem.
'96 Mercury Grand Marquis, 4.6 L engine. (The oil pressure gauge indicates normal, as it has for years.)

Thanks for any suggestions,
Nick

The roller rocker looks good to me but I ordered a new one to replace it. I also ordered a new lifter. Both items are expected tomorrow.
Because only time will tell if it is a permenant solution, I don't expect to post on this topic any time soon. (No news is good news.)

Much thanks,
Nick

You hit the nail on the head. No visual split in rocker but replaced it & lifter (about $40) and she runs sweetly.

Thank you,
Nick
