I am trying to get to the linkage below the air filter to lube it up as my perfect pass throttle is not returning. To get access I wanted to take off the air filter but the back lip of the air filter hits the nut on the throttle linkage. I tried gentle downward pressure on the linkage but don’t want to bend. Any suggest how to pass the filter beyond the throttle linkage. It’s a very tight design.

Thanks was hoping there was a way without dropping that bolt and risking losing a piece or not being able to get it back in as it’s tight to get to that location. But that might be my only course if I indeed have to replace the throttle spring. I will try some wd40 to see if I can loosen up the perfect pass cable first. In just working the cable it does seem to be improving.

There is a return spring so to speak but the spring should not be what returns the throttle to closed. The shift cable should be adjusted so it can just fit on when the throttle plate is closed. Then its removed and adjusted so there is a slight bit of pressure holding it closed

The cable does the closing, not the spring

Okay thanks and you are talking about that little clip that releases the throttle cable from that holder. That might have a little too much play but will recheck it. And if it does then I back out the throttle cable thread to tighten so it just fits in then tighten a hair more to keep snug.

For the most part yes.

I'm seeing jam nuts which are used to adjust and hold once adjusted. Not getting a good picture of the cable and points, but you have the right idea
