I have a 1996 polaris Sl780, It's runnig really well at idle up to 1/4 throttle after that it bogs right down it doesn't have enough power to pull out of the water top end is about 6-8 km/h, and i'm not sure if its related but at start up it shows its reving at 1300 rpm while it's actually aroung 500-600 at 1/4 throttle it shows 4200 rpm while it's actually 1000-1100 rpm, CAN ANYONE HELP????

First i would check the fuel flow. Polaris had soem fuel problems that starved some cylinders and seized them. Take a compression check, make sure you have spark on all 3 cylinders and then fuel. When you say it shows what is it? the digital dash? or do you have a tiny tach?
Sounds liek a fuel problem since you can start it but after 1/4 throttle it dies. You probably have clogged up the high speed jets in the carbs

It has a digital dash, compresion is good 110-115psi, I will check the high speed jets though, i never thought of that. Could it be electrical? bad tach signal or is the rev limiter acting up?? thanks

its possible its electric but usually electric will simply not work or work right and then go bad. with the bogging sounds more liek fuel. When was the last time you had the carbs rebuilt? the high speed jets are located in the carbs under the diamond shaped covers that have a round indentation.

Problem solved

Problem solved

Found my power problem! After checking all my fuel lines and removing the carbs again and finding nothing, i started checking it out electrically and found that the module inside the electrical box that reads oil level and engine temp has failed causing the engine to go into self protection mode limiting rpm to 4300, unplugged the module and took it out for a ride runs 100%, module is on order, thanks for the helP!:)

Srideout6: Is this a module (CDI) or wires I would need to disconnect? I found my MRD with the RPM's way off and had the same bog problem you did. After doing nearly everything fuel-wise I figured it had to be electrical.

I know what your promlem is, take your electrical box on top of the battery and there is a 1 1/4 in fuse that is a 1/4 amp it blew that is what fixed mine
