96 Rinker 180 Steering Issue

Like the title says, I have a 96 Rinker 180 with a 3.0 Merc and Alpha outdrive. Bought the boat last year and has always had really tought steering since i have owned it, and figured it was about time to fix it. I have searched the forums about steering issues and I hear alot of responses about the cable is the main culprit. My power steering pump will hum when the steering wheel is turned all the way to either side as if it is trying to pump. Today I pulled the cable out and am looking for a replacement. It says DETMAR 14.5. I am assuming that is 14.5 ft of cable and that to replace I would need something like this

When I pulled the other it seems to be the Rack and Pinion setup and I would need to go with 15 ft since they do not have a 14.5 replacement? Any insight on this would be greatly appreciated. This is my first time changing this cable.
