Hi All,
I am new to the forums... I'll describe my issues as best I can.

1996 Sea Ray F-16 Jet Boat w/ 120HP 4-Cyl motor. 230 hours. Overall good condition, with normal signs of wear.

First off, I just purchased this boat last week. Took it out on the water a couple days later, for the most part it was a good time, however had the following issues...

1.) W/ more than one person in the boat (say 2-3) at max RPM's (5K) I can't get the boat past 28 MPH on open and smooth water... Seems absurdly slow to me. Has trouble planing too, however I think "Smart Tabs" may help this out. Any thoughts? Sounds like Impeller & Wear Ring to me...
2.) At High RPM's and when the motor is under some strain (accelerating) there is a squeak/chirp that comes from the motor compartment. Very loud and extremely annoying... I haven't been able to open the compartment, due to the speed I am usually at, to see where it is coming from. I was told by a boat mechanic a loose belt was the problem, however there are no belts on this motor. I am wondering if it is simply something rubbing, or worse, a bearing?
3.) Occasionally, the boat will pull horribly to the left. It seems to have no rhyme or reason (no matter where people are sitting, even if I am in it alone!), other times it is smooth as can be...
4.)Last but not least, at about 2,500 RPM's, when accelerating, the motor will bog and typically stall out. Sounds like dirty carburetors, but not sure...

The boat is in good condition, the motor is relatively clean, although I noticed some seemingly sprayed oil on the front portion. After I bought it, I sprayed the entire motor down with degrease and washed it off... Hasn't been any more evidence of oil...

Currently the boat is in a local Marina for the problems listed above... However I always get 2nd and 3rd opinions before I pursue repairs to solve these problems. Additionally, I over payed a bit for the boat due to its "seemingly" good condition, seems that wasn't what it seemed though.

Additionally; At one point I found a very helpful instructions on how to change the impeller and wear ring on a sea ray, it had tons of pics and great detail, can't seem to find it again.... Anyone have a link????

Any help would be awesome!
Thanks,
Jesse

It's the Mercury SportJet (Force 120 powerhead)
