96 Sea Rayder F16 Wont Plan OUT: HELP

My 96 Sea Rayder will not plan out unless I only have two people and I send the other person to the front of the boat for about 30sec. I have taken it to a few shops but they have not given me a direct answer as to why it will not plan out.
Can any one point me in the right direction or have a good Idea what it is.
I have seen a few post similar to my issue but they were a few years back.

I am also looking for a manual for the unit so I can do the repair and up keep myself, if any one knows were to find a free copy that would be great.

Post some more info as in motor size and hp , regardless of what setup you have you need to check impeller clearance and be sure that the reverse gate is coming all the way up and clearing the nozzle by 1/8 to 1/4 inch at WOT .

It has the Mercury 120 hp.
I saw another unit just like it the last weekend at the lake and talk to the owner. The boat was identical to mine, same size and same motor. He was able to take of with 3-4 people in it loaded with gear and plan out with no problems. He could wipe the boat around like a jet ski, spin out and take of again with out missing a beet.
That is what I am looking for!!

Have you checked the gate adjustment as I asked ? Also check the carb butterflies at WOT to be sure they are open and horizontal and I mean flat , if they are not flat it will kill lots of HP . Also if you have a tach what kind of RPM's are you turning ?

No I have not check the gate. I will look over this weekend.
As for the RPMs, they are around 4000-4500 with WOT when I take off.
if I am pulling out of the no wake zone and just give it full throtle then it actually boggs down and doesn't really want to go anyware, but the engine and rpms are fine. It is more like the boat is anchored or something. But if I slowly increase the throtle then I am able to get the boat to plane out, plus have my passanger got to the front for about 30-60sec.

As for the engine I am sure the carbs and everything else is good, once I get it planed out it runs great it is just the planing it out that I am having issues with.

AHHHH .. Time for some Smart Tabs , Call Greg at Nauticus , 800-233-0194 , he will give you the proper part number for your boat . The best money you will ever spend on the boat as far as Quick plane and stability . Once you have the number the tabs can be ordered through the parts dept on this forum site !

ok, so I check the gate and it is not coming all the way up at WOT, it is not clearing the nozzle!
It is coming short about 1/4-1/2 inch short form flush with the nozzle.
Will this make a difference in it planning out at WOT??
how can I adjust the gate the it clears the nozzle??

Follow the cable into the jet drive from the gate and you will find a threaded part of the cable and a locknut , adjust it so it clears the nozzle by 1/8 to 1/4 inch , if you have no adjustment left the cable has streached to to point it needs to be replaced .

Yes it will , it is like running at 2/3 throttle or less .

was unable to make adjustments to gate clearence, followed cable and there is no adjustment.

still not able to get boat plan out the way it should.

I am about to give up on this thing seriouslly

There is an adjustment , you just need to find it , It may be the cable mounting bracket on the jet drive . The mounting screws may be going through a slotted opening in the bracket allowing movement of the bracket forward and backwards. by moving this bracket you will in effect adjust the gate cable .
