Re: 96 Yam 250 low oil alarm
do a bit of forum searching.
Seahorse has a good article for testing precision blend from a Bass&Waleye magazine. its a very simple system just dont let it confuse you.
the transfer pump is located in the remote tank. brown wire is hot anytime the key is on anf the ECU takes the blue wire to ground when the engine tank switch sees a need to transfer.
as the manual switch works the 12v+ to the remote is ok.
if the remote tank switch is open no automatic transfer will occur and the low remote (yellow) indicate will illuminate on the tach.
so so far we know the pump is capeable of transfering oil and the 12v power supply is intact. what we dont know is if the remote tank filter can flow oil faster than the engine can consume it or if the engine tank switch is working or a remote possibility is the ECU.
a quick test is to drain the engine oil tank, make sure the remote is about 1/2 full or better.
then turn the key on,tank should refill in about 180 seconds,3 bars will flash on the tach and the audible will sound until oil reaches the lower transfer mark on the engine tank.
its a default function used for initial fill and testing the system as remote tank ok and engine tank low cant happen in normal operation. if the two above conditions exist the ECU will attempt a transfer for 180 seconds.
