Mine has started acting up as in slightly hard to start, idling a little rough, but more importantly doesn't seem to wanna run well at wide open throttle like it's boggin down. To me sounds like it's not firing on all cylinders anymore.

It was purring like a kitten prior to taking on some water at least just over the lower cover seal line after fiberglass patch gave out in some rough waters and it had to be towed in to the trailer. That's the only common denominator from running well to running poorly. I'm thinking possibly the lower two coils may have gotten some water on them and maybe shorted or fried out. And yes the patch was re-done and will no longer be an issue.

I checked all the wire connections around the motor and cleaned the grounds on the coils themselves. Fuses are good. The plug wires look great and there's no signs of corrosion anywhere (saltwater). At the digital gauge it registers a good charge while running.

Hopefully tomorrow I'll get to do some tests. Either the digital voltmeter continuity test at the coil or timing light test.

Whats' the best way to accomplish this?

For the next guy and to NOT be one of those guys who never update with the final solution.....Checked the spark on all six cylinders using a sparkplug like spark tester one at a time. All had good spark. Cleaned all contacts that looked like they needed it and some regardless. Compression was good. Fuel separator filter, sampled fuel in a jar, etc. etc.

Ultimately drained fuel from fuel bowls on each of the 3 carbs and the bottom carb had water in it. Removed it and took the bowel off and it was all gunked up and no doubt not providing fuel at all. Currently in the midst of cleaning/rebuilding it and suspect it should be just fine once completed and reinstalled.
