Hey guys. New to this forum, just wanted to say hi.
Now I've got a 97 Johnson 150 Faststrike and the fuel pumps gone out. Im torn between rplacing the fuel pump or buyin a rebuil kit for it and probably dissconnecting the oil injection. What are yalls views on rebuilding or just replacing the fuel pump and is it in my best intrest to dissconnect the oil injection. I've been told that my motor has one of the best oil injection systems out there.

It would be my opinion that oil injection systems put a little oil into places that would not otherwise get oil from the fuel. It would just be a natural design benefit since they went to the trouble of using an oil injection pump in the first place. Think about this: are there any tiny little hoses going places on the engine that would not be there in a fuel/mix engine?

The sytem on this engine mixes the fuel and the oil togehter in the fuel stream before the fuel gets to the carbs so there are no little hoses ect. to deal with. The pump is actualy 3 components in one housing all functioning together. The rebuild kit does not adress all 3 components. I would recomend replacing the unit with a new one and retaining the conveneince of not having to mix the oil manually. This is my opinion.
