Hello,

I have been a long time lurker here learning everything I could while I rebuilt and restored a 97 Horizon QX with 4.3GL. I have had all the upholstery redone and have done a bottom up engine rebuild. I bought the boat from the original owner who forgot to winterize it and cracked the block, he stripped all the wiring off and half the motor apart when I bought it, lets just say he didn't label ANYTHING!

I just got the motor put back in the boat and am in the process of connecting the wiring. I have been able to figure out where everything goes except for (see attached pic) a single purple/red wire that comes out of the harness just below the breaker box and has a female plug connector.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Ryan

Wire colors are standard. Simply google ABYC wire colors

Thank you for the suggestion, unfortunately I cannot find anything that covers this purple with red stripe wire. I was hoping someone might come along and see the picture and know right off thier head what it's used for, if it's even used at all...

Thank you for your time

Look for a Volvo Penta wiring diagram for your model, they are out there and as Scott said based on the color code and location you should be able to figure it out. For what you are doing, a factory wiring schematic is a must. I have an original OMC shop manual wiring schematic with the color codes and locations of everything made a copy of it and I keep in the glove compartment.

one of my pet peeves...
something we always did in the old days...
GET a factory shop manual! read and learn! Yes the internet is great n all that but has led to people being too dependent on a link from here and a link from there. Get the manual and LEARN yourself!
