1997 Rinker 182, owned since new. Sunday evening boat shuts down cruising on lake.
Find water in oil. Towed to boat ramp.
Back home I had to loosen the dipstick to drain engine, oil was too thick to suck out with vacuum pump. Looked like pancake batter. New filter and oil. Started boat for a few seconds. Sounded fine.
I have one piece exhaust manifolds. Pulled manifolds, no sign of water leaks. Pulled intake and heads hoping for blown head gasket. Found nothing obvious.
Read the FAQ on this site about water in oil. Inspected block, saw no cracks.
Cleaned goop off heads and intake. Found crack in intake. I drained the block and manifolds last fall the same way I've done the last 13 years.
Was this freeze damage? Doesn't seem like a place water would be trapped, too high on the engine.
On the bright side, might put a 4bbl on it.
