I have a 97 Force 120 it will not charge battery. I have changed all electrical parts. trigger, stator, voltage regulator. have not replaced the coil packs yet. I have seen posts that say the two yellows can be swiched the wrong way,( coming from the stator ) also that the coil packs could be a problem by low spark. I am not sure what to do next???? Bad parts? Wired wrong from stator? Coil packs?

Do you have a volt meter? Check for AC on the yellow wires. If 24 volts your in business. Do you have the rectifier hook up right or are you using one of those ski do regulators?

Rip??? What's the pic of??
A Skido or the correct regulator for an older Force outboard??
97 reg looks nothing like that.
www.cdielectronics.com has troubleshootin procedures.
outboardignition.com has em too.
Coils should not be a problem if the unit runs, they have nothing to do with charging.
I'd check the stator or regulator, even NEW can be bad right out of the box..

It's a rectifier. It's in your site CDI Electronics. Good site. Click on regulators and rectifiers. That's what I have on my 85hp force screwed to the starter. I guess the 120 uses and lot more expensive unit that does the same job.
