This van leaks around the rear tip-up door, apparently through the weather stripping. The "stuffing" inside the tip-up door is soaking wet and coming out the bottom. I'm considering taking the inside paneling off the door to dry out or replace the stuffing and put on new weather stripping. Is this something a bookkeeper can do or is it best left to a body shop. Thanks for your help.

Re: '97 Ford Aerostar Rear Door

It might just be a door adjustment but I don't know if the hinges on that van are adjustable. I would call a major car dealer and ask if they use a water doctor. Most big car dealers know someone that specializes in water leaks and problems.

Honestly, I would have it looked at by a pro and ask how much to fix. Putting in a new weather stripping can range from simple to a real pain in the a$$.

It would be worth a 2nd opinion from a person who can see the problem in person.

Commander Bob: Thanks for your input. I'll see if I get any more comments in the next day or so and then head to the Ford dealer.
