I have a 1997 sea swirl 20 ft boat that was efi fuel injected. Motor was replaced with old style 302 short block and the 4 bar heads and fuel injection from the original motor installed on it.Now comes the good part, the firing for the old style 302 is different than the original HO 302 that was in it. It idles fine but under loads it pops through the phylum, could the problem be with the timing on the injectors since the timing is different than the original motor? I just bought this night mare I am a gm person and know very little about fords.

Marine 302's use a 351 cam and firing order

So make sure yu have the correct cam and firing order

tried to wire as 351 but it ran worse and skipped very bad. It seems to not be a marine short block that was installed in this boat. the heads and fuel system appears to be original to the boat. new gaskets and tell tell tabs have been put on the heads and the block showing a rebuild.

I don't do much ford work but this thing is a nightmare.thinking about a partial tear down to find what cam is in it.
