Best way to fix a cracked engine block is to replace the engine block. Since that is a 350 engine, fairly common, and not too expensive, if you're incline to do the engine replacement yourself, offer him peanuts and get yourself a bargain.

Agreed, worse case you buy a block. Every machine shop in the country has a handful of 350 blocks sitting waiting for you.

Yes, lots of people have had this problem. Either exhaust manifold/elbow gasket failed or a cracked block as mentioned. Hard to fix if it is a cracked block.

Go look elsewhere for a boat. Don't mess with this one.

Ayuh,..... Welcome Aboard,...... I find droppin' in a new motor fairly easy, you may not,......

It could easily double or triple yer costs to get to "Go Boatin' " though,......

I'd keep lookin',..... Lotsa used boats out there,..... some are even really water ready,..... ;)

welcome aboard

so your looking at a 22 year old boat with a suspected busted block from lack of winterization.

assume you have to buy a new motor and exhaust as well as fix a bunch of other neglected issues because anyone that neglects winterization also did not do any proper maintenance.

so how much is this guy asking for this non-working boat?

I wouldnt pay more than $500 for it if the interior was in good shape, the trailer spotless and the motor was all it needed.

fully functioning in clean condition the boat may be worth about $5-6k. however depending on your skills, it may cost you more than that to get it back in the water.
