About to buy a 97 Crestliner Phantom 1860 with a Johnson 130, the white engine cover. It goes in to have the engine looked at and serviced next week.... What should I look out for?

I've never had a 2 stroke, been a I/O guy up until now.

Appreciate any advice.

Check the gear case oil to see if there's any water and take it out for a long hard test ride.

don't know how the fuel system works on that one (way too new for me), but it needs a 50:1 mix whether automated (probably) or manual mix. When in for that maintenance you mention, might have them check the delivery system to make sure it's right. Use TCW-3 rated 2-cycle oil (Bombardier or Quicksilver would be excellent). Make sure the gas is fresh. That boat should be pretty fast. Good fun.

Give us a report back after you take it for a good run.
