Got an issue with my 97 Sea Ray 185. Tried to take it out this weekend for the first time this summer. Engine will start if I pump the throttle a couple times, but will die within a few seconds. If I increase throttle it will run at around 2500 RPM, but as soon as I move the throttle back to idle it will die. This is true even after the engine warms up. Never had trouble with it before, I even ran it on muffs a couple months ago with no issue. Since then I did have some work done on it to change the impeller by a reputable shop, and I believe they also ran it some to check everything out. After having the issue I changed the fuel filter but that didn’t make any difference.
Am I looking at a carburetor issue here? Only carbs I’ve ever worked on have been on small engines.
