A friend of mine is looking at buying a used boat from a neighbor......My question is The boat was winterized after the 2002 boating season, and hasnt been used since(Im not sure but I think he had taken the boat to a marina to have them winterize it) Anything special or out of the ordinary that has to be done to get this motor ready for the water?
I have a aluminum boat and an outboard...I am not familiar with an I/O and outdrives and such.........

Thanks in advance.

Heyytown,First take it for a test run.Run it hard and keep an eye on the gauges. If the batteries where left in the boat expect to replace them.keep an eye on the bilge for water ,and if you find any, find out where it came from. after your run check all the fluids to make sure there is no water mixed in with them.I'd also check the compression. The carb may need to cleaned out if if its been sitting that long after being fogged out to winterize.

good luck

Jim
