While busting through rough chop outboard started cutting out until it finally stalled.I do not think it hit rev limiter, tach on console was reading 3500-4000rpm then shot up to 5200rpm comming off swell then with in 15sec. it stalled. When trying to restart it sputtered first try then next try finally started with a slight miss the rest of night.I was scared to open it up again, plus it was only a no wake zone 2 miles around ramp!Any ideas ?

Thanks

Re: '97 suzuki cutting out

Your right it is efi, the first year was '94 then they simlified efi in '98 and also added new fresh water cooling plus a larger charging system. I took the boat out yesterday but could not repeat condition. The condition did happen twice that first evening but did not actually stall the first time, that time I tried to correct it by pumping fuel bulb but it lost rpm's quicker so I quite.Although bulb felt empty the first two pumps,by the third or forth pump it firmed up but then it really feel on its face. Then engine slowly built rpm's for 5-10 seconds and ran for another half-hour with a slight miss until the condition happened that I originally mentioned.I did check all plugs they were dark but other wise good condition,I
will replace tomorrow. The wires were not showing any fire works the evening it happened.I will also go over all battery connections tomorrow.I do not know if it is revelent or not but the next morning when I cleaned(flushed) engine I did not get good water flow(see post suzuki cooling problems?),although it cooled and ran ok when I took it out today, but that condition was not normal. Thanks for all the imput.

Re: '97 suzuki cutting out

Thanks for the help guys,Ive finally figured out what caused the cutting out of engine. It was something simple, when I was out showing off how seaworthy my boat is and upon hitting a hard swell the battery tray came undone from and deck and pinched my fuel line when the battery and tray came down on it.Now fuel line is in a nice tight bundle and tray is held down by four screws instead of two.I spent many hours trouble shooting this problem and it was so simple but tray and line are hidden in compartment in stern of boat,Iwas replacing all fuel lines for a totally different reason when I happened to see this.Im slowly getting all the gremlins out of this used boat!
